Welcoming the 2026 ARTIS Fellows

Eight exceptional MD, PhD, and MD/PhD students join the sixth cohort of the ARTIS Fellows Program, selected from more than 650 applicants worldwide.

Now in its sixth year, the ARTIS Fellows Program has grown into a global community of nearly 50 alumni working at the intersection of healthcare, technology, and innovation. What began as an effort to introduce exceptional students to venture capital has become one of the most rewarding parts of what we do at ARTIS Ventures.

The idea behind the program has always been simple: give talented students meaningful exposure to venture capital early in their careers, while learning from the fresh perspectives, scientific expertise, and insights they bring to our investment decisions.

We believe some of the most important advances in healthcare and technology will come from people who can bridge disciplines, combining deep scientific and clinical expertise with an understanding of how companies are built, financed, and scaled. The Fellows Program is one way we hope to help develop that next generation of founders, investors, and operators.

Introducing the 2026 Class

This fall, we welcomed eight exceptional MD and MD/PhD students to our 2026 cohort, selected from a competitive pool of more than 650 applicants across the country. Representing institutions including Harvard, Stanford, the University of Pennsylvania, Johns Hopkins, and Columbia, this year's fellows bring a remarkable range of scientific interests, clinical experiences, and entrepreneurial ambitions.

We kicked off the program with a two-day orientation at our San Francisco office, bringing the fellows together with the ARTIS investment team, portfolio company founders, and longtime partners. Through case studies, founder discussions, and interactive workshops, fellows got an early look at how we evaluate opportunities, work with entrepreneurs, and think about building enduring companies.

Over the next ten months, the fellows will work closely with our team and gain firsthand experience across the venture investment process. They'll participate in diligence, evaluate emerging technologies, meet founders, and contribute their perspectives to real investment discussions.

Importantly, this isn't just an educational exercise. Our fellows bring deep domain expertise and a fresh perspective to the questions we wrestle with every day. Their contributions make our thinking sharper and our investment decisions better.

Learning Beyond the Classroom

Alongside their work with the ARTIS team, fellows participate in a yearlong series of discussions and workshops with leaders across venture capital, biotechnology, healthcare, finance, and law.

These sessions cover everything from company formation, fundraising, and governance to capital markets, investment strategy, and the practical challenges of building and scaling a company. Fellows also have opportunities to engage directly with founders, investors, and operators who share lessons from their own experiences.

Together, these experiences give fellows a practical understanding of what it takes to translate promising science and technology into companies that can make a meaningful impact.

A Growing Community

Six years in, one of the most gratifying aspects of the Fellows Program has been watching the community grow beyond the fellowship itself.

Our alumni have gone on to found companies, pursue careers in venture capital, take on operating roles, and continue their work in medicine and scientific research. Some have even returned to ARTIS as full-time members of our team.

While the fellowship lasts ten months, the relationships often extend well beyond it. We hope every fellow leaves with not only a better understanding of venture capital, but also a community of peers, mentors, founders, and investors they can turn to throughout their careers.
